Couple of months ago, I wrote about being at the receiving end of the generosity. This time around, I’d like to blog what I have witnessed which validates as one of the trait that distinguishes Filipinos from other nationalities.
I have always believed that generosity is not relative to wealth. One is generous because he or she has a great abundant mindset and a grateful heart. And you and I, along with the rest of the Philppines and the world witnessed the dramatic rescue efforts of volunteers, the aid in packing and distributing goods and much more. Each of us has a story to share on how we made a contribution to others but let’s not talk about it lest we brag our feats that can easily be dwarfed by the others who stayed silent about their heroics.

Former President Cory Aquino

I was literally awed by the supporters that have braved the rain just to send the former president to her final resting place. People of all ages, of all status came together as one. It was really touching, to say the least. The unity of the Filipinos shone brightly once again. Unfortunately, it was an effect to a tragic cause.
The Filipinos do have a lot to be proud of. The problem is, we just don’t know about it. We have spent centuries of degradation from foreign invaders. As if the colonialism was not enough, we just have to go into mass exodus to other nations to render our service where no others would do.
Shameful? Definitely not!
